Pines and Roots Remodel Project

Logo: Roots

Come Fall 2026, Pines and Roots are getting fresh, new looks with flavors to match!

In preparation for this remodel, both restaurants will close for renovations on Friday, March 13 and are anticipated to reopen this fall with improved building infrastructure, expanded seating capacity, more natural light and new culinary concepts.

Due to project impacts, students and the campus community can expect the following:

  • On Friday, March 6, John’s Market will close to make room for M.O.M’s. M.O.M’s will stay open in its current location until Friday, March 20 and reopen in its new, temporary location on Monday, March 30.
  • Starting finals week, expanded indoor and outdoor seating will be available at Restaurants at Sixth, OceanView and 64 Degrees.
  • Extended hours and expanded platform offerings (including some of your favorite menu items from Pines) will be available at Restaurants at Sixth and 64 Degrees, with breakfast service at The Rooftop as well.
  • Muir community engagement will feature pop-up events, giveaways, movie nights and more throughout spring quarter.
  • The Mariposa Room will open as additional M.O.M’s space from Monday, March 30 through Friday, June 12.
  • More lighting will be set up to brighten up the Quad.

Residential dining menus and hours can be found at hdhdining.ucsd.edu or on the Triton2Go app.

We thank students and the campus community in advance for their patience and understanding as Residential Dining works to enhance and elevate Pines and Roots. We're thrilled to bring Goody's Marketplace to the newest community on campus, Ridge Walk Living Learning Neighborhood!

Slated to open Fall 2025, Goody's is designed as a vibrant, student-centered hub for Tritons. Experience a chicken extravaganza, with hand-breaded chicken sandwiches, tenders, baskets, salads, breakfast sandwiches, and burritos, all served with a rotating selection of global flavors.

Goody's will also boast the first-ever self-serve barista experience at UC San Diego, offering freshly brewed coffee, iced coffee, espresso, cappuccinos, and lattes.

In addition, the market will offer students all their essential grocery needs, featuring the same contact-free technology currently being used with success at Roger's, Sixth Market, and The Market @ Seventh. The new location will accept various payment options, including Dining Dollars, Triton Cash, credit cards, and EBT, making it convenient and accessible to all.
